First snow has arrived

It has snowed yesterday, early this year... last weekend we were sitting at the table in T-Shirts and enjoy the warm October sun.

Our "scary" pumpkin... designed by the little ones. 

Next year we have chosen a design which is really spooky...

Enjoy the season with warm tea, storys to read and playing 

games with the whole family.

Osternest - Easter Nest

For the past couple of years, some days before easter, our neighbour a nice old lady, keeps asking the children if they have already prepared their easter nest.

I was always wondering what this is.

Now I know, as I found one in our friends garden and easter bunny leaves some chocolate eggs every now and then.

Of course the kids and I went to the woods today, picked up some good branches and chose suitable moss.

Together with daddy we all built the easter nest:

carefully decorated and made with love and laughther.

And guess what, easter bunny already left four little eggs for all of us.

I wonder if he will visit us again?

Enjoy the magic of this season!

Winter in the mountains

We had a wonderful time high high above in the mountains.

Skiing, sliding, enjoying the family and nature!

Feels rather like early spring outside...

We do not complain - although we were ready to put on the ski and rush down the hills, maybe later this year.

This place is marvellous, just a few steps away, peaceful beautiful, see the alpes in the back?

Saint Nicolas was here.

And of course he left a lot of mud behind (because he has to walk through the woods) and for sure you'll find angels glitter (golden dust) all around, because if you don't you can't be sure it was him...

This year he brought Klompen because he knows I always liked them and they are easier to clean and there is more space for tangerines, nuts and golden dimes - enough excuses?

One pair for the boy (with a Christmas tree) and one for the girl (with a star).

Schürzenkleid - Apron dress

Vor einiger Zeit habe ich das Buch "Sy og strik børnetøj 0-3 år" von Ulla Welinder (leider nur in Dänisch erhältlich) gekauft. Dieses Schürzenkleid habe ich für das große Mädchen genäht, zuerst aber etwas vergrößert, denn das Buch von 4-10 Jahre gibt es leider nicht mehr zu kaufen und 98/104 ist schon etwas knapp bemessen.

Some time ago I bought the book "Sy og strik børnetøj 0-3 år" by Ulla Welinder (available only in Danish). This apron dress I made for the tall girl, first of all I had to enlarge the pattern a bit because size 98/104 would have been too small and the other book for sizes 4-10 years is not available anymore.

In unseren Osterzweigen hängen dieses Jahr bunte Papiervögel und verrückte Hühner.

In our Easter branches are hanging colourful paper birds and crazy chickens.

Unsere Nachbarn hängen jedes Jahr zwischen 350 und 400 handbemalte ausgepustete Eier in ihren Pflaumenbaum, toll, nicht?

Our neighbours are hanging about 350 to 400 handpainted blown out eggs in their plum tree, great isn't it?

Blumen - Flowers

Das herrliche Wetter hat uns in die Gärtnerei gelockt und einige Blumenkästen sind nun bereits bepflanzt.

The wonderful weather made us vistit the market garden and some flower pots have been planted already.

Die alten Tontöpfe werden mit frischen Blumen gefüllt.

The old clay pots are filled with fresh flowers.

Der Weidenkorb begrüßt unsere Gäste am Gartenzaun.

The wicker basket is greeting our guests at the fence.

Die Kinder haben sich ihre eigenen Blumen ausgesucht und sie selber gepflanzt.

The kids were picking their own flowers and planted them themselves.

Nestbau - Nesting

Jeden Herbst beobachten wir, wie sich die Stare sammeln und zusammen in den Süden fliegen. Nun sind sie wieder zurück und beginnen, wie jedes Jahr mit dem Nestbau in unserem Starenkasten. Der kleine Star gab sich im letzten Jahr so viel Mühe, seine Frau war von dem Ergebnis aber nicht so angetan und verschmähte sein Nest. Ich hoffe dieses Jahr hat er mehr Erfolg!

Every year in autumn we are watching the starring family coming together to fly into the south. Now they are back and have started, as every year, to nest building in our nesting box. The little male bird put all his efforts in it last year but his wife was not very excited about the result and despised the nest. I hope this year he is more successful!

Das große Mädchen hat auch in diesem Jahr wieder etwas von der Oma gefärbte Schafwolle für die Vögel rausgelegt, damit die Küken es schön gemütlich haben.

The tall girl has put outside some sheepwool, dyed by her Grandmother, so the little birds have it very cozy in the nest.

Die ersten Gänseblümchen aus unserem Garten, von dem großen Mädchen gepflückt, stehen auf dem Tisch.

The first daisys picked from the tall girl in our garden are standing on our table.
