Time to knit a new hat for the tall girl. 

Remember the beret I knitted two years ago? Even if it is still worn by the girl very often, it is not covering the ears anymore. 

Not the best thing when the mornings are crisp if you ask me. 

Looking for a new pattern I found this at Etsy. 

Katy Tricot has some beautiful patterns, don't you think? 

So I will go and buy some wool today, the girl shall choose the colour and I will start knitting. 

Fingers crossed the result will be as beautiful as Katys.

So the sound of the needles will carry me through the evenings.

Viele kleine Dinge - Many small things

Viele kleine Dinge ergeben ein Großes! Hier wird es Wahr - ich habe drei kleine Quadrate gestrickt, die Tonya mit vielen anderen zu einer großen Decke für Ari zusammennähen wird.

Eine wunderbare Idee und ich bin stolz einen kleinen Teil dazu beigetragen zu haben.

Many small things make one big thing! Here it is becoming real - I made three small sqares, which Tonya will sew together with many others to a big blanket for Ari.

A wonderful idea and I am proud to be a part of it.

Die drei Quadrate stehen für Kelly, Matt und Ari sowie für Liebe (rot), Hoffnung (grün) und Frieden (blau).

The three sqaures stand for Kelly, Matt and Ari as well as for Love (red), Hope (green) and Peace (blue).

P.S. Die Quadrate sind 6x6 inch groß und wurden aus Merino Schafwolle gestrickt.

Noch nicht begonnen - Not yet started

Zuletzt habe ich die Seite von Wendy Bernard "Knit and Tonic" gesehen. Sie entwirft ihre eigenen Strickmodelle und ich habe zwei bei ihr gekauft. Unter anderem dieses für mein großes Mädchen. Nun liegt die wunderschöne, rote Wolle hier und ich muß endlich mal anfangen.

I found the website of Wendy Bernard "Knit and Tonic". She designs her own knitting patterns and I bought two of her. Among others this one for my tall girl. Now the wonderful red wool is lying here and I have to get started.

Dann werde ich noch dieses für mich stricken.

Then I will knit this for myself as well.

Zauberhaft - Magical

Durch Zufall bin ich auf den Blog von shescrafty gestossen.

Ohh, Hadley Fierlinger macht zauberhafte Dinge, zum Beispiel diese Mütze, die ich allerdings auf vier Nadeln gestrickt habe ("yo" heißt Umschlag, ich habe etwas gebraucht um die Abkürzungen zu verstehen, eigentlich ist es aber ganz einfach).

Ihr könnt auch ihr Buch kaufen, es heißt "Vintage clothes for modern Babies" von Hadley Fierlinger, leider nur für Babies von 0-3 Jahren.

By chance I saw the Blog of shescrafty. Ohh, Hadley Fierlinger does wonderful things, for example this Beret, I knitted it on four needles though. You can also buy her book which is called "Vintage clothes for modern Babies" by Hadley Fierlinger, unfortunately it's just from 0-3 years.

Ich habe noch eine Mütze gestrickt, dieses Mal habe ich 6 Reihen mehr gestrickt und ich finde nun sitzt sie besser.

I just knitted another Beret. This time I added 6 more rows and I think it fits better now.

Warme Hände - Warm hands

Meine Kinder haben immer kalte Hände - wie ihre Mami - und nun bin ich dabei dem kleinen Mann Pulswärmer zu stricken, so kann er die Finger besser bewegen und sie bleiben trotzdem warm.

My kids are always having cold hands - like their Mom - and I'm knitting wristlets for the little man. So he can move his fingers better and they are warm as well.

Er mag sie. He likes them.

Eine Mütze voll Leben - A hat full of life

Letztes Jahr machte die Zeitschrift Brigitte in einem Artikel auf die hohe Sterblichkeitsrate bei Neugeborenen in Entwicklungsländern durch Unterkühlung aufmerksam und wie die Organisation "Save the children" dieses durch die Verteilung von Mützen an Neugeborene einzudämmen versucht.

In Deutschland ist diese Aktion bereits vorbei (200.000 Mützen wurden verschickt), Ulla hat jedoch gerade fleißig Mützen gestrickt, die sie an die dänische Organisation von "Save the children" schicken wird.

Vielleicht habt ihr auch etwas Baumwolle und Zeit übrig und unterstützt dieses Projekt, falls ihr es nicht schon gemacht habt?

Last year Brigitte (a magazine) made us aware of the high death rate of newborns in developing countries due to hypothermia and how "Save the children" tries to curtain this through giving away hats to newborns.

In Germany this campaign is already over (200.000 hats were given away), but Ulla is knitting hats for the danish organisation of "Save the children".

Maybe you have some cotton yarn and time left to support this project, in case you haven't already done it?

Eine Farbe des Herbstes - A colour of autumn

Als nachträgliches Geburtstagsgeschenk habe ich von meiner Mutter eine von ihr gestrickte und dann in der Wachmaschine gefilzte Tasche bekommen, schön, nicht? Sie hat genau meine Lieblingsfarbe gewählt, ein warmes Orange und ich finde sie passt hervorragend zur Jahreszeit.

I got a belated birthday present from my mother, a knitted and then felted (in the washing machine) bag, nice, isn't it? She has picked my favorite colour, a warm orange and I think it perfectly fits into this season.
